This week, Year 4 have begun to read a new book in English about the life and achievements of Usain Bolt. To launch the book, the children watched a clip of Usain finishing the 100m in 9.68seconds. Following this, the classes went onto the field and had the opportunity to see how far they could run in the same time. The children loved this experience, and this led us into a discussion about Usain’s life before he broke the World Record. In class, the classes predicted what characteristics Usain had and the amount of training he would have undertaken to become a World Record holder. From the races, it was clear to see that we have some budding athletes in our year group!
