Looking forward to the future, after a challenging year, is so important for the children. Giving time to talk about their hopes and dreams encourages them to be open to new ideas and opportunities. Being able to be honest about any worries we may have, whilst still retaining an optimism, can help us through many situations that life may throw our way.
In our Forest School we created dream catchers whilst we talked about our experiences this year and our aspirations for the future.
We used willow to make the circular frame, traditionally this symbolizes Mother Earth and everything that sustains life. The circular shape also represents the continuous flow of life as there is no beginning or end. The web or net of the dreamcatcher is intricately woven inside the frame to mimic the look of a spider’s web, good dreams or ideas would become trapped in the web while the bad ones would pass right through the holes and would be gone forever.
Principle 3: Forest School aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners.
