As the nights get darker and colder, it is often lovely to curl up and read a book. Throughout the day, we talk to the children regularly about the importance of reading for pleasure and how it can help to develop vocabulary and develop an understanding of the world around them. This week’s books are absolutely perfect for that!
The Best Diwali Ever (Age 4+): A gorgeous book about the customs of Diwali, coupled with a relatable story about an older and younger sibling – and how, sometimes, little ones can be annoying, but they can also make life wonderful and full of fun
Utterly Dark and the Face of the Deep (Age 8+): A tense and exciting supernatural thriller set on an island where the beaches are dangerous and the water harbours secrets and unspeakable monsters
“Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift. “
