Year 2 enjoyed some afternoon sunshine in our Forest School this week. Spending some time with the hens and gaining confidence in handling them. As the children progress through school they will be taught how to look after the hens, cleaning them out and ensuring they have enriched lives, learning first hand why we should try and nurture the living things around us. After all a healthy hen is a happy hen. Some children got busy collecting leaves for mulching, there’s plenty more to fall yet. This will make fantastic compost next year and is lots of fun. Other children tried out one of our rope lines. The lines can be used in a variety of ways, once the children understood the rules they ran the rope line activity independently.
Principle 1: Forest School is a long-term process of frequent and regular sessions in a woodland or natural environment, rather than a one-off visit. Planning, adaptation, observations and reviewing are integral elements of Forest School.
Article 6 – We all have the right to succeed in whatever we do.
