The children were excited to start a new Design Technology project this week. The week started off with some research into how toys move. The pupils had fun playing with pop-up books, Hungry Hippo, wind up toys and toys with a lever mechanism. They learnt that all toys that move need a mechanism such as a lever, slider or pivot to function. The next day they made a zooming rocket to which they attached a slider so it could move through a starry night sky. The children practised their cutting and assembling skills. It was particularly tricky to cut the slit in the sky but the children were proud of their results and enjoyed playing with their moving picture. Next the children will make a moving dinosaur picture. Look at the website next week to see how they turn out.
