Although this Christmas period will again not be what we would call ‘normal’, it is important that we continue to have events which children can enjoy and access to begin the celebration of this important time. Unfortunately, we will not be able to have parents/carers into school, which I know will be hugely disappointing for families, as it is for us. However, what is important is that we help keep our community safe whilst still creating a sense of the festive season.
Christmas Dinner – Tuesday 7th December
Christmas dinner, for children from Reception to Year 6, will take place at the beginning of our Christmas activities. On the day, there will be one meal option of a traditional Christmas meal (with a Quorn fillet for vegetarians). Children can choose to bring a packed lunch as normal and will still be able to sit with their friends/classmates, within their class group.
During the meal, there will be Christmas music, decorations and crackers to make the meal more of a special occasion. Children and adults may wear a Christmas jumper on the day as part of this event.
Christmas Party Days
We will continue to schedule Christmas parties, but these will be part of a wider festive day. We will organise the day to support separate classes rather than year groups as part of our Covid-19 management. In this Christmas themed day, children will:
- Watch a streamed professional Christmas pantomime, in their classrooms
- Take part in classroom festive activities
- Participate in a party
At the parties, children will be involved in a range of party games and dancing, as usual. As lunchtime will still be in place, we will provide a small party bag which will contain a cake, packet of crisps, drink and some sweets, which they can eat after the fun and games.
Children will be able to come into school dressed in ‘party clothes’ for the day. This will avoid having to leave school in the middle of the day or having to change in school, neither of which will be manageable.
Christmas Performance
As children will not have the opportunity to perform in front of an audience of family members, the staff will be working with the children to create one school Nativity performance which we will record and subsequently stream to parents/carers. This will not be able to be downloaded.
The project will involve editing together acting by Reception and singing by the other Year Groups.
Thank You
We very much appreciate your support and understanding at this time and we will aim to create a sense of normality that the children can enjoy, particularly in the current climate.
