In our geography lessons, the children in year 3 have been learning about the water cycle. The boys and girls were able to label a diagram of the water cycle and use the words evaporation, condensation and precipitation accurately.
In order to investigate what happens in the water cycle, the children created a ‘water cycle in a bag’ with their partners. This enabled the boys and girls to see the process in action and helped them describe each stage.
While learning about water, the children have also studied the River Nile and labelled a map of its journey through Egypt. They have learnt about flooding and identified how annual flooding supported the ancient civilization of Egypt. The boys and girls looked at images of the Aswan Dam to help them understand how this is now used to control the annual flood of the River Nile.
