Though we try and get out into our Forest School no matter what the weather brings, even the most adventurous have to respect mother nature and keep themselves safe. So for the first part of this weeks session the children stayed out of the high winds and created some placement art in the classroom.
They have been learning about our native birds through the RSPB Big School Birdwatch so today created images of birds using natural materials. Some children worked together others on their own, but as you can see the variety of work is really impressive. The children devised lots of ways to use the materials and were really engrossed in this activity. Once they’d completed their work the wind had died down so we ventured out for some fun with wind streamers. What a busy morning.
Principle 1: Forest School is a long-term process of frequent and regular sessions in a woodland or natural environment, rather than a one-off visit. Planning, adaptation, observations and reviewing are integral elements of Forest School.
