Seeds, seeds and more seeds!
We have started looking at spring/growing this week. We have read the story ‘The Tiny Seed’ and discussed how plants grow and change over time and what they need to grow. The children have planted their own sunflowers this week. Over the next few weeks, we will be taking care of them in the Nursery and watching their progress and then they will be sent home. The children have enjoyed talking and looking at sunflowers, we have created our own artwork of a sunflower, describing the parts of a flower during the process – stem, petals, stalk. It has been great looking at different seeds, they are all different shapes and sizes. We have discussed plants/flower seeds that we cannot eat, and seeds in fruit that we can eat. The children enjoyed using tools to remove the seeds from the fruits.
