Year 1 start their Forest School adventures this week. They were so excited to finally get out. First we went on a guided tour of the whole site, then a quick lesson in Stick Safety. This is an important aspect of their learning, allowing children independence as their experience grows. It’s a really simple exercise in risk assessment, which they can practice each session, it will become second nature very quickly, enabling them to build and use resources safely and confidently.
Then into the woods for a bit of play, working at first in a defined area so they can build their confidence, then over the next few weeks the areas they can enjoy will expand to eventually include the whole site.
As you can see they were amazing, full of energy and joy, ideas and imagination. A very happy morning.
