For the past two weeks in Maths, Year Six have been learning about fractions. To begin with, the children realised that they needed to use their knowledge of multiples and factors in order to find equivalent fractions and simplify fractions. Adding and subtracting fractions was the next learning with all of the children keen to show how fast they could add and subtract fractions using a new method. The children have also learnt how to convert mixed numbers to improper fractions. A connect four style game converting improper fractions to mixed numbers proved very competitive! It was great to see how confident they were with this and how much fun they had playing the game and using their skills.
