This week in PE, Gail from Skipping School joined us to start our skipping journey. This is part of a wider scheme in school to get more children skipping as part of our commitment to 60 active minutes a day, supporting children in their development of fine and gross motor skills and also getting children moving and exercising.
We were so impressed with the children’s skipping abilities and determination to improve the skipping skills. Year 5, quickly moved through the stages and Gail was amazed with their talents. We practiced many skills such as single bounce and double bounce and even boxing style skipping!
We are now going to incorporate skipping into our PE warm ups and, every Wednesday, the children will be able to take the skipping ropes out for extra practice. Gail is going to return in March to see how our skipping skills have developed!
