Our School choir, lead by Mrs Holt, have been sharing the joy of song in our local community. First stop, St Ninians Church. Some of the choir were asked to light the advent candles with the curate, George Lackenby, then the performance began. The church was filled with festive songs and despite the weather there was a good turn out in the congregation with plenty of parents coming to join the service too. Afterwards we were invited into the church hall for refreshments and more singing and even some piano playing.
Then the next visit was to Eighton Lodge Care Home. The residents were wrapped up in cosy blankets and all the windows and doors to their community rooms were opened so that residents could enjoy the singing from the garden. What a beautiful morning, the sun glistening off the snow, the children’s voices and the bells ringing out. Many of the residents shed a tear of happiness, others sang along and we even had some dancing.
That afternoon the festivities continued at Angel Court Care Home. Visiting old friends and sharing our love of music and togetherness. Everyone joined in and the adults even tried to keep up with the actions of 12 days of Christmas, which is no mean feat. A huge thank you to Julie and her team who provided some very welcome refreshments.
What a beautiful week of song, the children have practiced so much and to take these talents and share them with our wider community makes us all feel very proud indeed.
