Reading Stars

As the nights get colder and winter sets in, the reading effort from the KS2 children has been fantastic. all of the children have been doing assessments, which have highlighted the progress they have made this year. The use of Reading Plus and Accelerated Reader are essential components for the children when it comes to reading. these programmes are designed to increase fluency and comprehension skills and it is essential that children continue to make good use of them. It has been really pleasing to see some of the fantastic scores that children have achieved over the last few weeks – with many classes hitting the 80% plus that we strive for. These programmes are available for the children to use over the Christmas holiday – should they find themselves wanting something to do.

This week’s reading stars come from two different year groups:

Reading Plus – Class 5a with an average score of 84.5%.

Accelerated Reader – Class 3b with an average score of 80%.

Well done to both classes – and also to the huge number of people who have reached 50,000,  100,000  or 150,000 words. What a great achievement!
