This week, in Science, Year 5 have been learning about space. Firstly, we looked at the eight planets in our solar system and learned a handy mnemonic to help us remember the names and order of the planets. Then, we found out some interesting facts about each one. Then, we learnt about why we have day and night, understanding that the Earth is tilted on an axis. Some children even demonstrated this, rotating as they orbited the Sun.
Today, we looked at why seasonal changes occur on Earth, understanding that this is caused by the Earth orbiting the Sun. The children created a handy tool to show them where the Earth is positioned when we experience spring, summer, autumn and winter.
