This week the children have been learning about days and months of the year, as well as hours and minutes in a day. They first demonstrated their ability to order the months of the year correctly before moving on to finding out how many days are in each month, using the knuckle trick. By the end of the lesson they were able to use this trick confidently to recall which month has 31 days and which months have 30 days. They also learnt that February is a unique month with only 28 days, and during a leap year, has 29 days.
The following day, the children learn about hours and minutes, understanding that there are 24 hours in a day. The children enjoyed planning their day using a 24-hour plan and use their plan to identify how many hours they slept and how many hours they are at school.
