The Harlow Green Choir were out and about in the community today, sharing their joy of song. First stop, Eighton Lodge Care Home. Due to Covid restrictions over the last few years we have had to sing from the garden, today it was lovely to be able to perform in their community room. It was a moving start to the day, children that have visited Angel Court this term sat with the audience whilst the choir sang their hearts out. The impact that visits like this have on the residents is without measure. Seeing their faces light up with delight, some even having a little boogie in their seats, was priceless. The care home staff were amazing as always and joined in the festivities.
Then after lunch we headed up to St Ninians church. What a warm welcome we received from Reverend George and his volunteers. The children’s families were out in force, the church congregation and Angel Court residents all came together to enjoy the singing. Some even attempted to keep up with The Twelve Days of Christmas! The choir sang a mixture of classic carols and more upbeat Christmas songs and what a spectacular performance they presented. All that practice with Mrs Holt really showed. So many of the congregation said they were already looking forward to next year! After such success we will endeavour to make more of these visits throughout the year. The children should be incredibly proud of themselves, they created such a warm and loving atmosphere as they represented our schools commitment to combat loneliness and isolation in our community. After all that singing it was a lovely end to the day sharing refreshments together in the church hall.
