This is a really interesting challenge that the children threw themselves into with gusto. In class the children were asked “How do I move an object that’s too heavy for me to lift?” They talked in their table groups and came up with some really interesting solutions. We looked at the parameters of the task, can you show: safe moving and handling, a collaborative approach and finally you must take into account ecological, damage limitation. Outside, they were supplied with a pile of random materials and a large pile of rocks. Then they had to put their ideas to the test, could they move the rocks from A to B ensuring they met the expectations.
What an amazing way to move half a ton of rocks! They came up with some really creative solutions and really worked as one big team. They were so proud of themselves and so they should be, no doubt many adults would have found this a challenge.
Miss Rowe and the children are very grateful to Costain, the company carrying out major road improvements, for supplying the stones. These are going into our wet and wild area. So fantastic to see a big global company taking the time to help our community.
