Brilliant Batik!

This week, the children finished off their unit in Art by producing river scenes onto cloth using the method of batik.

Last week, the children sketched two designs of river landscapes and then selected their favourite design to replicate onto a piece of cloth. They carefully sketched out their chosen design onto the fabric (which was quite tricky!) and then went over parts they wanted to be in batik using white crayon.

Then, the children used watercolour paint to bring their landscapes to life. However, the paint did not soak into the cloth where the crayon had been used, leaving this white.

The children then evaluated their artwork, thinking about things that went well with their designs and one thing they would improve upon if they were to do their artwork again.
