Classifying Living Things.

This term in Science we focus on living organisms and their characteristics.

The first lesson is always around the characteristics of all living things, like nutrition, growth and respiration, and then we move on to look at ways to classify organisms.

These can include characteristics like can fly, live in water, size and their features such as legs, feathers or skin.  The debate is always intense and soon the children realise that there are often plants and animals that can fall into a number of different categories, like crocodiles, who can live in water and on land.
