Forest School was combined with World Book Day and PSHE week for Year 3.
After reading The Day the Crayons Quit in the morning, we then spent the afternoon investigating colour. The children went outside to collect natural and man-made materials. Back in class they then worked in groups to sort the items. There was a lot of discussion around how to categorise the items; some used colour alone, others colour and materials, some by size, many variations with no right or wrong answer. Once all teams had decided, we then came together as a class to debate how the items would be placed on our final sheet. This ties in with part of our PSHE week which focuses on different viewpoints. We learned that by changing your perspective this can completely change how you do something.
