This half term in English, Year 5 are going to be studying ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar. Over the course of this week, the children have enjoyed introductory activities to the book. To begin with, they looked at different versions of the front cover and predicted what the book may be about. We then read the first few chapters of the book. With this knowledge, the children attempted to identify characters based on the extracts they were given. After just a few days, the children have developed a good understanding of the characters and have used this successfully to hotseat the protagonist: Stanley. The children are very excited to see the performance of ”Holes’ at the Theatre Royal tomorrow!
