Grammar focus – Fronted Adverbials
Fronted adverbials are phrases or words at the start of a sentence which are used to describe the action that follows. They can be used as sentence starters. Normally, they are used to describe the time, frequency, the place, the manner or the possibility of something happening.

Writing task
A biography is a piece of writing about someone else’s life. It is about a real person, but it is written by someone else. A biography explains the key events that have happened in their life. Write your own biography. It could be about your favourite pop star, film star, sports star or even a member of your family. You could research about your chosen person to help you write your biography. Use the resources below to help you.
What I’m Looking For:
- Formal language
- Events written in chronological order
- A range of fronted adverbials- in particular time fronted adverbials
- Written in the 3rd person
- Written in the past tense
- Linked ideas organised into paragraphs

Reading
Children should spend 20 minutes at least three times per week using Reading Plus.
Maths
In maths, we will spend the week focusing on a particular topic, eg. shape or place value. Activities will then be set on Mathletics that are based upon this subject.
Topic – Time
This week we will be looking at understanding times. This will probably need a refresher so there are two sets of work. One set will help you refresh with your child about how to read the time on analogue clocks and then the main focus for the week is about understanding how to change analogue time into digital time.

There are suggested days on the slides of when to cover these. These are not set in stone, and you should flex your days as needed, whether you do more or less on particular days, or don’t cover some of it, then that is fine.
