In English, we will spend two days reading and comprehending the text; one day on the grammar focus and two days planning, writing and editing a text.
Text – Newspaper Article
This week, we will be looking at the Shakespeare story of ‘Macbeth’ and then writing a newspaper article based upon the events of the play. over the week, we will become familiar with the events and then use this to construct a newspaper article. We will spend two days looking at the story itself, before doing our grammar work based upon a newspaper article.

The comprehension below has a lot of questions. Don’t worry if you don’t do them all, but they provide a good range of the different question types that we have looked at in class.
Grammar Focus
Our focus in grammar will be on direct and indirect speech and how to punctuate it correctly. We will also recap on the use of parenthesis from last week as this is an important feature in a newspaper article. There are three sets of differentiated worksheets; choose a set that will challenge you.

Writing Task
Your task is to write a newspaper article using the story of Macbeth. You could either write it at the point where Duncan is killed and people don’t know who did it, or at the end as an overview of the whole story.

Topic – Statistics
This week we will be looking at statistics and thinking about how to draw and interpret information from various graphs and charts. We will also be calculating the mean, which is a form of average.

This week, we will be focusing on the story of Boudicca in history and in art we will be producing a mosaic design showing an image from this story. In computing, we will use Purple Mash. The children need to log on to 2Code and then Create a Spooky Scene. All of the instructions are there to follow.
