Grammar focus – Similes
A simile describes something by comparing it to something else, using like or as:
- The snake moved like a ripple on a pond.
- It was as slippery as an eel.
- Jess is as graceful as a gazelle.
Similes can be used in poetry to make it more descriptive.

Writing task
Write a poem. Your poem could be about summer or describing your favourite place to visit in the summer. Use the resources below to help you.
What I’m Looking For:

- Rhyme- if possible
- Descriptive vocabulary
- Use of the senses- what can you see, hear, touch, smell, taste?

Reading
Children should spend 20 minutes at least three times per week using Reading Plus.
Maths
In maths, we will spend the week focusing on a particular topic, eg. shape or place value. Activities will then be set on Mathletics that are based upon this subject.
Topic – Data, Charts and Graphs
This week we will be looking at understanding data that is represented on charts and graphs. Over the week, you will be able to learn about charts, pictograms, bar charts and line graphs. There will be a chance to draw your own graphs too.

There are suggested days on the slides of when to cover these. These are not set in stone, and you should flex your days as needed, whether you do more or less on particular days, or don’t cover some of it, then that is fine.
