We have just finished our 13th week of home schooling, and we are immensely proud of how hard you are all working. So many of you have completed this week’s English and Maths lessons, and lots of you have been working hard on Mathletics and Lexia. This week, we have had 6 certificates on Lexia for moving up a level and 8 Mathletics certificates! Let’s see if we can have even more certificates for you all next week!
In school, we have completed the Maths and English activities that were uploaded onto the website. We have attached pictures of our letters to Year 2 for you to read! We have also been learning about a local artist called Norman Cornish. He worked in a mine nearby and lots of his artwork shows his life in the mine. He was commissioned to create a 9m mural for Durham Council about the Miners’ Gala (we were amazed at how big this must be!). We have recreated some of his pictures ourselves as we were so inspired by him. During our Outdoor Learning lesson, we created animals and patterns using the natural materials found in our Forest School area.
Next week, we look forward to welcoming some more Year 2 children back in the classroom on Wednesday. Things are a little different around the school to make sure we can all stay safe, so if you are coming back please make sure you have read this post as it details the differences in timetables and entry/exit of our school site. It would also be extremely useful if you look through this PowerPoint about what coming back to school will look like and share this with your child to make the transition easier.
