Beamish was brilliant.  All of the children rode on a tram, took part in a Victorian school lesson with a very strict teacher and also had to help clean a miner’s pit cottage.  They even had time to visit the farm and some of the shops down in the town.

Today, ten of our fabulous Reception children took part in a multiskills festival! They all had lots of fun and really enjoyed getting involved with all of the different activities!     Article 29 – We all have the right to develop our talents and abilities.

The children in Reception have been enjoying playing games together. They have been playing skittles and hopscotch. The boys and girls worked together to follow the rules, take turns and develop their numeracy skills. Article 31 – We all have the right to relax and play.

This week we have been learning about signs of spring. We have been on a nature walk, drawn pictures and created a flip out frog. The children all learnt about the different stages of a frog life cycle.

The children have particularly enjoyed studying the work of Francis Bacon and have been intrigued by his unusual style. They have shown great enthusiasm and imagination whilst creating their own collages of a distorted face, using a black and white photograph, tissue paper and oil pastels.

In science, year 6 have been looking at living things. this week, they were given pictures of different organisms: bees, butterflies and birds. In Music, Year 4 have been looking at singing songs with actions. This week they sang the Sea Shanty ‘John Kanaka’ and performed a whole class dance. It was extremely fun for all!

Yesterday, two teams of Year 4 rugby players went to Gateshead International Stadium to take part in a rugby tournament. Both teams played incredibly well and had a lot fun! Amazingly, both teams came second in their groups, well done teams!

Another huge congratulations to the year 5/6 hockey team, who took part in the finals on Wednesday! They came second overall meaning they go on to the county finals next week!   Well done team!    I
