  • Hockey Tournament – Cardinal Hume

    Dear Parent/Carer,

    Your child has been chosen to represent Harlow Green Primary School at a Hockey Tournament. The Tournament will take place at Cardinal Hume Secondary School on Tuesday 3rd March, 2020.

    Your child will need their P.E. Kit, trainers, and a water bottle (no glass bottles please). Children are also allowed to bring a small snack with them.

     

    We will be leaving school at approximately 3.00 p.m. to go to Cardinal Hume school by coach. Tournament is due to finish at approximately 5.30 p.m. Spectators are welcome.

    ALL children MUST be collected from Cardinal Hume Secondary School.

  • Year 4 Visit to Hindu Temple

    Dear Parent/Carer,

     On Wednesday 4th March, 2020, as part of this term’s topic, children will be visiting the Iskon Hindu Temple, Westgate Road in Newcastle. We will be leaving school at 9.45 a.m. and return to school before home-time.

    Children will have the opportunity to try on traditional Indian clothing, learn about Hindu culture, they may have their hands and face painted (all water-based paint) and try Indian food. * Please delete and complete the allergy section on the permission slip.

    We would be grateful for a voluntary contribution of £5.00 towards the cost of the visit. School will be subsidising the remainder.

    Payment can also be made on our Parent Pay website.

    Children are to wear full school uniform.

  • Football Match at Gateshead Leisure

    Your child has been chosen to represent Harlow Green Primary School at a Football Tournament. The tournament will take place on Thursday 5th March, 2020 at Gateshead Leisure Centre.

     Your child will need to take a PE Kit and a water bottle. (No glass bottles please). Children are also allowed to bring a small snack with them.

    The tournament is due to start at 4.00 p.m. and finish at 5.00 p.m. School will be providing transport there, but all children MUST be collected from Gateshead Leisure Centre. (Please tick box on consent form). Spectators are welcome.

    We will be leaving school at 9.30 am and returning to school before home-time. 

    Each child will need to bring a packed lunch, with a drink (no glass bottles please).

    *If your child is entitled to free school meals and you wish for a school packed lunch to be provided then please tick the box on the permission slip below. If the box is not ticked, then you will be responsible for providing your child/children with their packed lunch.

    During this half term, we have been working with Little Movers during our PE lessons. Little Movers have been teaching us how to move and dance in different ways and are organising a project with schools they have been working with. This project includes school children visiting a local care home and taking part in a performance with the residents. This is an occasion for the children to showcase the different skills they have been learning at Little Movers. These inter-generational classes will be a very exciting opportunity for the children to expand their local community links, experience a different way of life and put on a performance for some local people. This will be a series of visits to the local old people’s home to partake in the inter-generational class.

    These classes will be on the following dates:

    Monday, 20th April 2020.

    Dear Parent/Carer,

    Spring Open Evenings – Nursery to Year 6

    Spring Open Evenings will take place on Monday 9th March and Tuesday 10th March, 2020 from 3.30pm to 6.00pm when you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s class teacher, discuss progress and share relevant information.

    Ten minute time slots will be allocated on a ‘first come first served basis’. Therefore, we would recommend that you complete the attached slip, indicating your first and second choice of appointment, and return it to the class teacher as soon as possible. They will then confirm an appointment that is mutually convenient.

    A selection of your child’s books will be available for you to look at before your meeting with the class teacher, if you would like to come along earlier to look at these, then please do so.

    Year One – New Reading Programme

    Dear Parent/Carer,

    As part of our provision to support each child to make the greatest progress for them individually, we will be introducing our new Reading Programme to children in Year One.

    We would like to take this opportunity to invite you into school on Monday 16th March at 3.00 p.m. to discuss the programme in more detail. During the meeting we will be explaining how home reading books will be organised and so it is essential that a parent/carer attends for each child. Children will finish school at the normal time of 3.20 p.m.

    Reading is one of the most important life skills and, at Harlow Green Primary School, we are committed to providing our children with the proficiency to read as well as develop a love of books.
